Behrouz Javid-Tehrani is a former prisoner of conscience, spending all together 9 years in prison fr civil activism in the Islamic Republic of Iran. He is currently a researcher and the chief editor of the Persian website of Iran Human Rights.
Iran Human Rights (IHR) is a politically independent NGO with a broad network inside Iran. It is based in Oslo, Norway with members ad affiliates in several countries. IHR has been among the few Iranian NGOs with its main focus on the death penalty and the first one to publish annual reports on the death penalty in Iran. The first annual report was published in 2008 and since then IHR’s annual reports are the points of reference and widely cited reports providing a more realistic of the death penalty trends in Iran. Promoting the rule of law and protecting the rights of minorities and human rights defenders are other areas of IHR focus.
